Thomas Christmas was a trumpeter at Charles II’s court in the 17th century and is mentioned in a royal document printed in 1691 alongside another Christmas from Waterford. Their names were recorded as ‘Christmas,’ while the celebration was spelled ‘Christmass.’ Additionally, a notable Colchester businessman and philanthropist named Thomas Christmas had his will dated in 1520.

One of the most popular holiday songs considered a Christmas standard is ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ by the renowned American singer Mariah Carey, released in 1994.

In the famous novel Light in August written by the renowned American writer William Faulkner and published in 1932, a significant fictional character named Joe Christmas is a habitual wanderer who experiences racial ambiguity. One of the main characters in the movie Dumb and Dumber is named Lloyd Christmas, played by Jim Carrey. Action star Jason Statham plays Lee Christmas in the Expendables films.
